a great extension, but in years 30 was cut by the proprietors of the island.
The fact that today pines do not cut themselves has caused that this formation

- the rocky crags. They are extremely important habitats with respect
to the originality and the florística wealth of the Balearic Islands.
Many endemismos are exclusive of the landings and the fissures of rocky
crags, the rocky places, the riscales, the slides and pebbles. the plants
that live in these atmospheres receive the name of rupícolas plants.
Good part of the species that we found here has made of these places refuges
where these do not undergo the pressure of the herbívoros; if there
were not ewes and, mainly, goats, we would see that, with the passage
of time, some would become relatively frequent earth plants.
Some examples of showy flowers are col embroiders, manzanilla bastard
- maçanella - and the violet of penyal, that is not a violácea,
as its popular name seems to indicate, but that it belongs to the family
of the beans and other vegetables. They are possible also to be seen individual
of palmito - garballó -, hung in these walls. The plant had to
extend formerly by good part of the island, but the pressure that suffered
during the years in which craftsman looked for to it for the use causes
that now she is exclusive of also acantilados.En rocks can distinguish
great spots of white color and pumpkin. They are not more than líquenes
(vegetal organisms formed by the symbiosis of an alga and a fungus) that
survives on these rocks, with no need of earth, thanks to the luminance
energy of the sun and the rainwater or of the dew that contributes dissolved
mineral substances. Other represented communities affluent: The rocky
zone more coast is colonized by plants adapted to the loaded winds of
salt that come from the sea. The siemprevivas, hinojo sailor and coixinets
of nun (Astragalus balearicus) are abundant in the strip next to the zone
of influence of the splashes of the waves. Also plants of ruderal strategy
(adapted to elevated environmental disturbances) in the environs of the
human constructions, ways and fields of dry land culture can be observed.
