The island of sa Dragonera is an prolongation of the Mountain range of Tramuntana.
It emerges in the southwestern end of the island of Majorca and is separated
of this one by Channel DES Freu, of about 780 meters in width. It is the
greater small barren island of Majorca, with a Maxima length of 3.7 km between
the end of Tramuntana and the end of Llebeig.La island presents/displays
a defendant relief, that falls in the West of very steep form towards the
vertical cliff sea spectacular. The East coast descends from more progressive
way, forming narrow calitas and the natural harbor of Lledó Cove.
The Puig of the Officers' Club of Revolutionary Armed Forces vell (na Pòpia)
with its 353 ms, is the elevated point more of sa Dragonera; dels Aucells
is Puig (311 ms) and is Més Alt (145 ms) are other significant levels.
Sa Dragonera is formed by calcáreos materials. The calcárea
nature of rocks has motivated cársticas the diverse existence of
formation, like caves and simas, of notable profundidad.El climate of the
zone is Mediterranean semi-arid, with an average temperature between 17ºC
and 18ºC and an annual average rainfall of 350 mm. The most intense
rains take place between September and December. The hydric deficiency of
the ground puts of relief between May and August.
